New packaging data-sharing platform launched

Partners involved are Dsposal, Ecosurety, Open Data Manchester, OPRL, and RECOUP.

GING is a cloud-based software that enables users to store and share data in a quick, user-friendly and secure manner.

It has been developed with a consortium of industry partners, input from over 100 packaging sector stakeholders, and funding from UK Research & Innovation’s Smart Sustainable Plastic Packaging (SSPP) Challenge, delivered by Innovate UK.

GING enables businesses to accurately share data, both domestic and international, allowing every organisation along the chain to access this information quickly and easily.

This platform is coming at a convenient time, as legislations and olbigations from the UK Plastic Packaging Tax and other organisations, are starting to increase. However, it has been designed to help with much more than just compliance.
