Westpak Group Ltd were recognised as ‘Highly Commended’ for the ‘Innovations in packaging’ award at the 2023 Footprint Awards. Taking place at the RIBA headquarters in London, the awards ceremony celebrated the foodservice and hospitality sector’s leading responsible business initiatives across a total of 12 prestigious award categories.
Westpak were recognised as highly commended for the development of our Crave foodservice packaging range – a collection of takeaway food containers that combine quantifiable sustainability benefits with complete practicality & performance.
This follows from Westpak’s award win in 2022 at the Sustainable Packaging News Awards for the ‘sustainable sourcing’ category – which was also largely underpinned by the development of the Crave range.
The Crave packaging range consists of six takeaway boxes that have provided foodservice and QSR chains with a commercially viable and practical packaging option that offers numerous, quantifiable sustainability benefits while maintaining absolute practicality and versatility.
The success of Westpak’s Crave range is largely due to the innovative materials that provide a departure from traditional plastic takeaway containers. Since being launched into the UK foodservice market over the last year, additional investment has been made into production and storage capacity to keep pace with strong demand. The range has appeared in major foodservice outlets such as Gourmet Burger Kitchen and has led to additional packaging designs that utilise the same material technology and manufacturing processes.
