Leading corrugated packaging manufacturer, Durham Box, has announced the appointment of Percy Sowden as the company’s new general manager. With a background in engineering and manufacturing, Percy brings a wealth of experience and a forward-thinking approach to the role.
His career began in engineering where he amassed over 25 years of experience in various engineering and project management positions. Percy’s transition into the manufacturing sector came 12 years ago when he joined Nissan Motor Manufacturing. Subsequently, he ventured into the corrugated packaging industry, working with several companies in the UK and across the Middle East, gaining exposure to diverse industries, cultures and work methodologies.
In his new role, Percy will be responsible for the day-to-day management of site activities, with a strong focus on future-proofing the business in terms of process optimisation, strategic investments and staff development. His vision for Durham Box aligns with the company’s continued growth and success.

Having a diverse background from different industries, I bring a broad range of expertise to the team and will be looking to build a short, medium and long-term plan around how we manage operational excellence and business growth.”
