Spectra are delighted to confirm they have been shortlisted for this year’s Luxury Packaging Awards.
Spectra have impressively received two nominations in the highly competitive Cosmetics and Personal Care category, which includes 6 other entries.
The prestigious award is segmented into a number of categories including Food, Jewellery and Accessories, Bag, Drinks, Perfume, Cosmetics and Personal Care, Seasonal Gift Pack, Special Edition, Technical Achievement and Luxury Packaging Supplier.
Spectra’s work for Josh Wood’s Precious Blonde Shampoo and Precious Blonde Conditioner and Elemis Dynamic Resurfacing Daily Essentials have been earmarked by a distinguished panel of judges, including packaging developers and specifiers from Diageo, Jo Malone, Crabtree & Evelyn, Procter & Gamble, Bacardi, Edrington, Hotel Chocolat and Harrods.
The judges cast their eyes over nearly 100 entrants, all of whom submitted a wide range of high-end packaging solutions, narrowing the list down to a handful of finalists for each category. For Spectra, the nominations are a testimony to the company’s creative credentials as Sales Director Jonathan Powell pointed out.
“We are thrilled to have been shortlisted in what is a fiercely competitive category. It illustrates how far the company has come in a relatively short period of time and shows Spectra has been recognised as a leading supplier of innovative premium packaging. To have been nominated twice in the personal care category makes us hugely proud”.
Josh Wood – Precious Blonde Shampoo and Precious Blonde Conditioner
Asked by Josh Wood to create new packs for his Precious Blonde Shampoo and Precious Blonde Conditioner products, Spectra proposed the use of their classic Slim Tubular design from their extensive standard range.
The sleek contemporary lines of the tubular pack were embellished with the use of a soft touch finish to create an intimate, tactile feel, supporting the purity and care of the pack’s contents.
The packs were then sympathetically colour matched in a vibrant violet finish to reinforce the products neutralising qualities. The use of large areas of highly reflective intricate hot foil blocking was proposed to add contrast and compliment the flat matt finish, echoing the brightness and shine aspect within the product.
Spectra were able to successfully overcome the technical challenges involved in foil blocking large intricate areas to produce the desired outcome for their client. Conversely, they provided expert guidance on all aspects of artwork procedure, making modifications to ensure the highest quality on a repeatable consistent manufacturing basis.
The finished packs were complemented with a tall radiused closure in silver for the shampoo and a lotion pump with a silver sleeve for the conditioner, finishing both packs beautifully
Elemis – Dynamic Resurfacing Daily Essentials
Seeking an elegant tactile packaging solution, Elemis approached Spectra to provide new packs for their latest skin cleansing Dynamic Resurfacing Daily Essentials.
A custom tooled oval pack with a straight-sided profile, featuring a chamfered base, was prescribed to give the containers a point of difference whilst offering a refined elegance.
The use of polypropylene gave improved clarity with a surface finish that further enhanced the look of the packs. Elemis requested a tactile quality for the containers so a soft touch outer was added giving a soft silk feel. The packs were then finished with single pass screen-printing to both the front and reverse, providing a clean, simple look.
Jonathan stated, “These awards are very much a dual recognition process. Obviously, from a packaging providers viewpoint, it is a real feather in our cap. However, much credit also has to go to our customers, Josh Woods and Elemis, for having the vision and courage to embrace innovative packaging to embellish their superb products”.
The various category winners will be revealed at a glittering awards dinner at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London on Wednesday 14 September.
